New owner for vehicle component supplies business

Alter-Start based at Heathfield, near Newton Abbott was set-up in 1993 as an additional branch of a business established in North Devon by Tony Saye. The business is a supplier of alternators, starter motors, batteries and electrical components for cars, commercial vehicles and boats. As well as having an excellent base on the industrial estate the business offers a delivery service within a radius of around 25 miles.    

With a good name and reputation and with trade customers accounting for 90% of the customer base the business has been able to rely on regular trade from its existing customers.

However, staffing issues meant that for the last couple of years Tony Saye was having to commute from his home in north Devon to Newton Abbot three times a week to oversee the business.
