SOLD : Sale of Distributor of Trailer Parts & Towbar Electrics Attracts Interest from Near & Far

Line 1 was established in 1985 and was acquired by Michael Strange in 1997 and the business operates from the Ferndown Industrial Estate in Wimborne, Dorset. Stocking and distributing a comprehensive range of towbar electrics and trailer parts, the business has gained a well earned reputation for speed of service amongst its customers by holding a range of nearly 1,000 products and being able to provide next day delivery on the majority of orders. The core market is supplying to trailer companies trade but the business has opportunities to exploit the trade within the motor, agricultural machinery and also boating markets.

Approaching retirement, Michael Strange chose to instruct South West specialist business transfer agency, Beardsley Theobalds of Exeter (01392 253071) to act for him to handle the sale of his business. A national marketing campaign was conducted and the business was also advertised on their own and other industry web sites. The business attracted a lot of interest locally but also from right across The United Kingdom. There were also enquiries from UK citizens looking to return and buy a business having lived abroad in such places as The United States of America and Africa. In fact the buyers are Chris Cherrington and his partner Kelly Stronge who had been living in France for several years. Between them they have strong business backgrounds and will use this to build on the solid base of Line 1 but update the computer systems and introduce a web site and look to expand in to additional markets. They will be shown the ropes by Michael Strange but will also have the support of the existing staff. The business was sold off an asking price of £90,000.
