SOLD : New Owners and New Products but Familiar Faces at Hard Landscaping Business
Country Garden Patio Centre Ltd. based in Clyst St. Mary near Exeter was established in 1986 by John Folan and secured a first class name and reputation supplying quality paving, garden sheds and other hard landscaping materials across Devon and parts of Dorset, Somerset and Cornwall from its base at St. Bridget Nurseries. The business offers advice on products and designs and, with the nature of its products being both bulky and heavy, 80% of the goods are delivered to the customers.
Looking to retirement John chose to instruct specialist business transfer agency, Beardsley Theobalds to act for him. With this being a rather niche market business a targeted promotional campaign was conducted contacting owners of similar businesses to see if they were looking for expansion via acquisition. Also the business was featured on the leading websites in the business transfer market as well as Beardsley Theobalds’ own website.
A good deal of interest was shown by people who were attracted by the opportunity to expand or develop their existing business operations such as landscape gardeners and builders merchants.
The company has recently been acquired by NKS Global Holdings Ltd., an international group with headquarters in India which, through its subsidiary of DNS Stones Ltd. imports stone from its own factories in India and China offering a great product range, quality and colours.
The acquisition of Country Garden Patio Centre brings to four, the number of yards that DNS Stones Ltd. now has in the UK, with the others being in Yorkshire, Cheshire and Cumbria.
Mr. Nishant Manchanda of NKS Global said the vision for Country Garden Patio Centre Ltd. is to expand the current range of Indian paving and patio products, Indian and Italian porcelain tiles and granite paving along with other building materials.
In order to provide the continuity in the business John Folan was offered the opportunity to remain and he is pleased to be staying on as a director.
