SOLD : Global Interest in Cornish Self Storage Business

Self storage first came to prominence during the 1960s in America and has become an economically resilient industry in the UK as demand for storage space increases. Self storage provides consumers with their own secure space that they can access whenever they want by way of electronic key access.

Recognising this opportunity Seton Self Storage and Business Centre was established in 2000 by Stephen Foster and his family and operates from a large site in Scorrier near Redruth, Cornwall. The site offers 144 indoor storage rooms, 164 drive-up units and 12 offices available for hire.
Looking for a change Stephen instructed Exeter based business transfer specialists, Beardsley Theobalds to act for him in the sale. A marketing campaign was undertaken and strong interest was show from buyers not just across The Westcountry or even the country but there was interest from people in Canada, The Caribbean, Singapore, Australia and South Africa.

Following discussions and negotiations West Country based Dainton Self Storage are the proud new owners of Seton Self Storage. The Scorrier site is the second in Cornwall for Dainton, who also run a self storage site at their successful St. Austell Bay Business Park.

Speaking on behalf of Dainton Self Storage, Operations Director Shaun Duncan said “We are really excited about becoming the new owners of Seton Self Storage. It has been a successful family run business built on excellent customer service and a friendly approach, so it is very fitting that the business should be sold to another family run company who share the same values.”

The site situated on the A3047 at Scorrier is just minutes from the A30 and comprises of both internal, temperature controlled units and drive up units making them an ideal storage solution for homes and businesses. The units offer secure storage for almost anything including archive documents, retail stock, tools, equipment and household items and can hold anything from a few boxes to the contents of a large five bedroom house.

Dainton Self Storage are keen to assure existing customers that whilst they will look at ways to build and improve on the existing facility, their primary focus will be to continue to offer the great service given by the previous owners.

Dainton's first self storage facility was opened in 2002 at Heathfield in Devon by Paul Maddicott, the company's Managing Director. Since then Dainton has opened self storage sites in Plymouth, Barnstaple, Exeter, Torquay, Paignton, Ipplepen and St. Austell, with expansion plans for storage facilities in Bridgend, Bristol, Gloucester and Darlington before the end of the year.

Dainton, which has grown considerably in the last 10 years, is a family run business and its owner and successful entrepreneur, Paul Maddicott, attributes their growth and ongoing success to the traditional values that founded the company; providing excellent customer service, best value and understanding their customers' needs.
