SOLD: Exeter Laundry and Dry Cleaning business

Kenjo Laundry and Dry Cleaners was established in Sidwell Street, Exeter in the early 1980s and since 2002 was in the ownership of Julie Rice. The laundry occupies a prominent corner site which offers an excellent position for its trade. The business caters for both domestic and commercial trade (with a collection and delivery service) and complementary to the laundry service the business offers in-house dry cleaning and ironing.

In addition to the laundry business on the ground floor, the leasehold premises has a four-bedroom maisonette above, which is let to students.

Looking for a change, Julie Rice instructed Exeter based business transfer agent, Beardsley Theobalds to act for her in the sale of the business and the transfer of the lease on the combined premises. Immediate interest was show by many people who recognised such a good opportunity to take on not only a solid business but also to gain regular tenants in the maisonette.

The business has been purchased by Peta Harper off an asking price of £55,000. Peta says “The launderette will continue to offer a friendly customer service at competitive prices. There are three members of staff, Charlie, Sarah and Ben who are all happy to assist all current and new customers. There is a plan to develop some adult education classes in the premises as it is a community hub. So, customers can not only do their washing and drying but also learn a new skill like improving maths, English, and art! The premises have already been used as a film location by media students at Falmouth University who made a short film soon to be released! Watch this space…
